Pete, Do you have any experience of either of these units? All I can say is the one i have for sale is excellent and does exactly what it says on the tin.

The different branded boxes should not be confused with each other in respect of the final tuning.

Alientec are the manafacturer only of the PCB and box that is sold to many tuners world wide in a unprogramed state, just as B&Q sell screwdrivers for builders, joiners mechanics etc etc. Its whats finally done with it that counts.

We tuners then install our personal company programming and mapping on to the interfaces for our customers.

Pete

It seems mobileecuremapping hasnt been going that long and have tryed to jump on the band wagon may be.

To me it looks like an attempt to try and get rich quick.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL What happens when the Censored hits the fan and he kills a ecu and the customer is stuck on his drive with a dead car and the installer hasnt got a business address or garage workshop.

Yep have used these units for both Fords and Land Rovers.....but found it cheaper to use a local guy who would reinstall my map for free and take it off for warranty work if required using a 'CMD' flash interface.

Didnt see the need to pay for hardware when all I wanted was software!!!

Have also played devil's advocate many times and had both vehicles go into the dealers still chipped and never once had an issue with chip being discovered Smile

Are you for real Question

Play dumb when you have a vehicle with an ECU problem and the dealer voids your warranty Shocked Shocked

This discussion needs to be moved from this post as the chap is trying to sell a BAS switchable re-map system, which is not to be confused with the options you put forward.

I suggest this post goes back to a sale post and the folk interested in possible buying the BAS box do so with no fears as Pete is a man of his word and he will offer what he has said at no extra cost to the buyer.

The price asked is very good value especially when the last one like this sold for more money.
"UNDERSTEER" ---is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" -is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" ------------is how far you take the fence with you.

Well I've had 8 vehicles chipped in my lifetime and everyone of them has been in the dealers for both warranty and routine servicing and not one of them has raised any suspicion so only 'throwing in my pennies worth' about the merits of an alientech unit that BAS sells along with his software.

As I said before...why pay for a piece of hardware when all you need is software Shocked

Unless the guy offering the tune is a Land Rover specialist with a car to test his tune on, it would be like asking a painter and decorator to give the sistine chapel a quick touch up. He may know how to use a brush, but the outcome is not the same.

It's also a question of having back up as well from somebody who knows the cars.

And what purpose does that serve?

My LR dealer would want to know how I was 'reading' the fault codes..."oh, yes I've got an alientech/BAS unit that also remaps my car but I only use it to read the fault codes..." Rolling with laughter

Just my humble opinion having had remaps using both the Alientech tool and using companies with a laptop and OBD interface.

On average a remap with an alientech tool seems to be around 200 quid more expensive than asking someone to come to your home with their own tuning tools and 'coincidentally' the hardware cost of of an alientech unit is 200 euros when buying direct from them in Italy.

Neutral

I'd personally want at least two 3rd party recommendations from LR owners before forking out on a "cheap" re-map... hense why I shopped around, listened to the enthusiasts on this forum, and chose Pete at BAS.. something I do not regret at all.... but that was MY choice..(I do not want to have to replace my engine in 50,000 miles due to poor fueling) Thumbs Up

The same careful choice I make with my Subaru's mapping, there are only 3 mappers in the whole country I'd take it too....and only go to... there are maps, and there are maps... Thumbs Up
