What battery for 2010 Disco 4?
Need a new battery for my D4, it’s at 40% according to the battery test I did at Halfords (I know I know but it was convenient on the day), and it doesn't like starting up if I’ve left the interior light on for more than 15 minutes.
I’ve had a quote from LR for £260 which made me spit out my coffee, another from an Indy for a Bosch for £180, and one from Halfords for a high end Tayna for £140.
Read a lot of posts saying to get an LR battery, but they also say they’re half the price I was quoted!

I got an Odyssey battery from Devon 4x4. Absolutely fantastic. With he old battery I would occasionally get faults etc but nothing since changing.

According to the odyssey battery website, they don't make batteries for the discovery?

Picked up a silver line Yuasa battery from Halfords in the end.
Can I do a in and out swap or do I need a diagnostic tool to program the new battery in?

Depends if you are putting in the same type. Is the one you have an AGM?
Also I believe you should reset the BMS with a new battery.

Worked it out now. As it’s the 6 speed it’s a straight in out swap, I don’t have a BMS.

I had this a few years ago. Robbie on this forum recommended me to get an Exide EK950 for my 2010. I got that and fitted it. Checked it was set for an AGM which it was (despite having the original LR battery fitted) and then reset the BMS and cracked on as normal.

Hmmm my local LR specialist thinks I don’t have one, or at least that I don’t need to reset one anyway.
Is yours the 6 speed or 8 speed gearbox?

Mines a 6 speed mate. Only 8 speed from MY12 I think.
You maybe don’t need to reset it, I think it’s just best practice. I did reset mine as I have a IID.
Also AGM isn’t only for stop start. Robbie checked mine on a LR database before I had an IID and said it was preset from the factory with an AGM battery.
I will plug mine in tomorrow and show you my settings
