Which battery for D4 61 plate
Hi, current battery knackered and need replacement.
It’s D4 61 plate and does not have a start-stop function ie does not cut off at traffic lights etc, however Land Rover confirmed that current battery is meant for stop start and my D4 could take standard battery, though not sure what’s meant by ‘standard’ in D4 terms.
Current battery:
Proposed replacements: which is the correct and why, been told that technically all would do.

Recent thread on here seems to suggest the Yuasa black is the one to go for, from Halfords if you have a discount card.
I would be wary of any battery that you cannot collect yourself in case of future warranty issues.
My Exide EA1000 has started to fail after 15mths and 10k so its not getting another one of them!

It must be an AGM for a D4 but not a D3, Exide are the favourite at the moment, Tayna batteries are the favourite supplier on here and best price with "disco2boys" discount code, next day delivery, 1/2 the price LR will charge It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

For a little more you can get a top brand battery from a reliable source, you pay the money, don't forget D2boys discount code,
Do a search and see what you find. They have certainly jumped up in price!

I would always use an AGM battery on a D4, no sensible reason not to regardless of start stop. LR themselves realised their mistake as early D4s (up to those built up to about 2011 I think) didn't have AGM batteries fitted from new and failed early and were replaced with AGM units by LR.

Can AGM battery cause damage to electric system on non-start-stop D4?
Anybody using non-AGM non-start-stop battery (eg YBX3019 12V 95Ah 850A Yuasa SMF Battery), any issues experienced at all, lack of battery power etc?

Doubt it as AGM is the standard battery for all D3s & 4s according to LR.

No. As I said earlier LR themselves actually changed from non-agm to agm on early D4s and they swapped failed non-agm to agm units.
I changed my 2010 non-agm to agm and it was significantly better in the winter months at starting and charging faster as I did a lot of short journeys.

It's the standard LR replacement, wasn't the standard as fitted from new until about 2011.

Im not sure whats happened to Taynas pricing as just about every battery they do is available cheaper on ebay.
The old D3 favourite Exide is 50 quid cheaper never mind Taynas 8 pound p+p!
