Battery spec?

Does anyone know the battery AH and CCA recommended for the Disco 3?... it’s not the stop start one as too old.

I’m told the battery installed by previous owner is not right one so I’m hoping that might explain why I’m getting faults pop up during starting then clearing straight away now it’s getting colder.

I had missed one question, profile now updated Wink

Just checked what is in mine and it’s a Bosch S4 800/95. So now I’m wondering if I do have battery issues..... the joys....

Took it in for a check as a few errors keep coming up.

Needs new brake lines £100 all in.

Needs new drive shaft centre bearing but found a local company that can replace just the bearing for £120.

Rusty air tank £110

Couple of other minor bits so with labour £600 Sad but if that makes it perfect it could be worse I guess.

Do love it overall though Smile

Way out of my price range that is. Luckily the guy who specialises in LR here only charges £42 an hour labour and £42 if you plug in diagnostics. So if it does need plugging in a few times while I have it, it’ll still be a lot cheaper than buying that.

If it were £100-£150 id be all over getting one but just can’t justify that price.

I understand your reluctance to spend that sort of money but these cars are not inexpensive to keep on the road. If you intend keeping your D3 for any length of time you'd be extremely foolish not to purchase your own diagnostic kit, especially as you have an earlier version car. Embarassed
Quite often, when you have work done to your car, you'll need diagnostics to update your car so it knows about the changes, the steering angle sensor re-calibration is a perfect example of this. With your local indie charging £42 per hour, it won't take many jobs for an IID tool to save you more than it costs. Wink
Plus, you'll be able to do all the updates yourself and do your own code reading and resetting which will give you much more flexibility and stop you paying £42 every time it's plugged in. Rolling Eyes

My own IID tool has paid for itself many, many times over and saved me a small fortune on dealer fees. Wink

It’s my birthday in a two months but not sure the wife will fall for that one..... I should really keep an eye on eBay for any used ones for now.

Remember and factor in the transfer of owner £cost if its been used and more if you want a warranty, £25 change of owner, £50 2 year warranty, £60 additional VIN.

All adds up

At over £400 it just seems soooooooo much. Other vehicles for similar thing seem to be a lot less.

Me too. Not having one (or similar) is a complete false economy. And when someone moves away from LR they can generally be re-sold or a fair sized chunk of cash. Thumbs Up
