Bearmach gearbox guard
Anyone fitted one of these? First time since I got it I’ve had chance to get under and fit it and despite the description “direct replacement for OEM plastic guard” nothing lines up! After two hours on my back with it on my chest I’ve given up for the day. None of the four bolt holes directly line up with any of the available bolt tabs on the chassis, there all off bu at least half inch.
Is there a trick? Otherwise it’ll be the grinder to widen the holes.

Thought it might be at one point but they’re swappable apparently. Just nothing lines up. Recon it’ll be the angle grinder at the weekend

Let me know how you get on as I may get one, they're a lot cheaper than others and I currently don't have the plastic one!Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey

are you missing any brackets by chance ? some of the bolts are recessed so cant see how it would fit without some bracketry.

Hi,
I decided to bite the bullet and ordered one. I don't have the plastic cover so I needed something and this wasn't that much more than the plastic cover. Anyway, it does come with brackets etc, I've attached a photo of the bits it came with and also the extremely detailed installation instructions.

Thanks! At least that confirms i’m not completely losing my marbles will have a look round for a bracket set, failing that extend the holes, they’re only half inch out for some decent mounting points.2008 HSE Stornoway Grey

Having looked at it before fitting, I think with a couple of holes drilled and some spacers, you could easily just mount it on the existing points, they seem to have over complicated it in my opinion.Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey

So, I fitted the guard today and in case it helps I thought I'd up date you.
The L brackets attach to the crossmember and the captive nuts on a stick slide inside the cross member. I had to open up the fixing holes at the front to get them to line up with the existing mounting points for the original guard. Likewise the 10mm holes in the middle needed a slight adjustment to get them to line up with the holes in the cross member.
Hope tgat helps you come up with a solution.Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey

So the brackets are mainly to get the captive nuts in place, and you still had to extend the holes, sounds familiar, if you zoom in on my image you’ll see where I marked up the holes with marker to show where I need to cut to fit it, not much at all.2008 HSE Stornoway Grey
