Beep when slowing

First commute into work today so a chance to see how the new one handles in traffic, speed bumps and stop and statrting.

I'm presuming this is nothing to worry about but when slowing at traffic lights I'm sometimes getting a single beep, this happened 3 times this morning, but not everytime I slowed at the lights. There's no lights or messages coming up. Had a quick look in the manauls and couldn't see anything. If someone could could my mind at rest I'd be very grateful.

May be your parking sensors. Mine did this in slow traffic, then I discovered the service bulletin which changes the way it operates to require reverse to be selected before activating.

Andy

TSB LA413-003:
Summary:A customer may report a concern that the front parking aid system sounds unnecessarily.

Cause: The current system strategy means that the front parking sensors will operate when a forward gear is selected following reverse. Sensor operation is canceled when the vehicle speed is above 10mph (16kph) but will operate again if the speed drops below 10mph (16kph). This can give instances of sensor warnings when the vehicle stops at a junction and another vehicle or pedestrian passes in front of the vehicle, resulting in the above complaint. This is not a fault with the parking system, however, an alternative system strategy is available so that the system operation is canceled when the vehicle speed is above 10mph (16kph) and will not operate again until the vehicle speed is below 10mph (16kph) and the fascia front parking aid switch is selected (or until a forward gear is selected following reverse gear selection during parking).

Action: On a customer concern basis only regarding the above, refer to the Service Procedure detailed in this bulletin to renew the parking aid system control module. The new system operation must be explained to the customer.

If it's the parking sensor beep, did there happen to be a large vehicle ie bus, lorry etc in the next lane beside you as you pulled up to the lights?

Mine does this occasionally and my daughter used to say the the Disco feels intimidated by the larger vehicle Laughing

Single Bing

Did you solve this problem. We have Just taken delivery of a D3 GS limited edition. With Exactly this probelm. The bing is the same bing as the seat belt warning if you are not wearing it, and the key in ignition warning rather than the front or rear reverse sensors noise. It always gives this bing just as you take your foot off the accelerator to slow down. It has always happened with a belted passenger in the passenger seat. It has never done it when driving solo.

Some days it does not do it, other days just once, one day it was on 5 occasions. Just had seat belt sensor and pretensioners changed but it has made no difference. Its annoying and worrying.

Any news about this? at least you are not the only one Smile

Any more helpful comments out there would be welcome.

Mine only did this in a particular place when driving to work. as I've been on holiday for the past 3 weeks I've not had a chance to see if it's still doing. I know the Disco better now and know what the bings and bongs sound like so I'll have to see what happens next week when work starts again.

Single biiiiiiiiiiiiiiing...

Hi DIsco3 lovers,
I've got my D3 in july and the phenomena happends to me different times... The first time was in correspondece of hour shift... the other cases not... I was with and without passengers...

No indications into the display... no "i"... nothing... of course I can't think about parking sensor since I was without anyone in front of me (and also inmy back...)...

If there will be some news I'll glad to receive some suggestion to avoid this thing...

Sad pretty strange... isn't it???

I get the bings (not seatbelt bongs) from time to time and it's the front parking sensors. Motor bikes in particular seem to set it off. One way to check would be to switch your sensors off?

Personally it doesn't bother me now I know what it is.

I have the same thing. For me it happens when I put my foot on the brake. Not always, and never more than once per journey...

I agree with AVE and Stu, sometimes happens when parked next to or near a large puddle too when something goes past.

Seen the same thing over the past week. Definately the 'Seat Belt' tone rather than the park sensors. Just one note and no display. However, on the last occasion I happend to notice a very short red flash on the dashboard - could have been the seatbelt warning.......

BING

I've tried to be very "present" during my bings... the last times Iwas with a passenger seated on my right and faster than 20 km/h... without anyone behind nor in front of me... I've not seen any lights on my dashboard... Arrrrghhh... it makes me crazy... anyway, checking with my dealer was more than sad... I felt like a crazy one communicating this "symptoms"... hoping to find out as soon as possible the real causes...

Anyway I'll take in consideration all your hypothesis...

Ciao,
