Bent exhaust - sort it or live with it?
SWMBO reversed into a low wall. The only damage was to one of the rear exhaust pipes which was pushed back and bent.

Given there are two pipes and the airflow is only part restricted, should I get it replaced or live with it. I can’t pull out the bend with exhaust on the car and even if taken off I am not convinced it could be pulled out to the original tube diameter.
The exhaust is clear off all bodywork and shields so no reason to remove for that reason.

Thanks Del. We are off to Europe towing the caravan for 8 weeks at start of April. I am trying to decide whether a daily update on here would tempt fate! 2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

Sorry, bit of a short reply as waiting for coffees to be "served" at Micky Dees on the M6 somewhere.
Mine were like that from playing from a few months into ownership and never caused any problem that I knew about. Unless slightly squished exhausts cause crank failures or bearing rotations.
Re trip, no update (with pics) = didn't happen and you went somewhere far too nice for us to see like the Seychelles.

Whilst i am reasonably sure that will make diddly squat difference I would fix/replace it, the pipe is after all that size for a reason.
Feel free to follow others advice but bear in mind DSL blew his motor in foreign climes, with two crushed pipes and a previous major coolant dumping/overheat session then a crank failure which of course is all unrelated

It was only one crushed pipe!! And no coolant was ever knowingly dumped, ever.

I took it for a hard drive this afternoon, holding it manually in low gear until it forced a change. No obvious signs of any problem. I am having an MOT early because of the trip to Europe. I know the Garage reasonably well and will ask them whether they can do a quick and cheap fix.
Thanks for replies.2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

Front pipe is of a much larger cross section.

Yes, larger at the front. I was looking at the join just in front of the middle silencer and thought it was larger diameter.2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

Until you do a big fix, why not just drill a reasonable hole in the bit just before the bend then if there is any back restriction it will just vent itself.

Cut it off prior to bend and put a "tip" on it

Globetrotter that sounds like a good suggestion. There is a silencer between the end of the pipe and the crease. Is that likely to be a standard exhaust part. If so they presumably I would need to get two pipe pieces to create the bend and run to the exhaust outlet.
Sounds like a job for exhaust fabricator rather than Kwik Fit.2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.
