You're lucky! When I bought my recent D3 I contacted my local dealer who I bought my RRS through telling him the deal I was offered and gave him the chance to match it! As yet I'm to receive a call back - not even saying sorry but we cann't match that! I will probably never buy any car from them again! Loving the power of the TDV8!

Theowl - perhaps if all dealers tried to offer better value then these internet brokers wouldn't be quite so popular. Why can't dealers sell at a standard price and make a set margin like other shops/industries? The reason is because they like to see how far they can rip you off. Some people haggle hard and don't do too badly. Others cave in earlier and get their pants pulled down. I favour using an internet broker and getting the best possible deal. When they give you a price, that is their final price. You cant haggle on it. If dealers did the same then all would be fairer. As matters stand now, you walk into a dealer and you just know you are going to get ; it's just a question of how hard.
The people who currently pay near top whack are effectively subsidising those who get better deals. And the dealer? His aim is just to extract as much money as possible out of everyone who passes the door. I guess the time will come when they will be forced to level the playing field but for the time being, it's the dealers who are keeping the game going, not the customer.

Speak to Giles at Brock LR (just up the Garstang Road - north of Preston). I got £3k off an S without even trying. You'll probably get more off an SE, especially with the 06-to-07 switch happening and it's now almost end of month/quarter.
Didn't buy it there in the end as I would have had to wait 3 months and needed a new car almost immediately. But he's a good bloke.
DON'T go to Hillendale along the M65 - they never returned my calls even though I was willing to throw £30k at them. No longer a D3 owner but still subscribed to multiple threads!

DickyH
i went shopping today and bought 2 loaves of bread and 6 bottles of champagne!
so did my wife (i forgot she said she was going)
my point is i went to mr Patel on the corner and paid £143.64
my wife paid £126.00 at asda
same bread same champagne
does this amount to the same thing? i could have bought my champagne on the internet and saved £1.98 so all shops are ripping me and you off!
Questions?
Q, Where do you go for a test drive?
A, Your Local Dealer. i don't surpose mr broadspeed or motorlogix took you for a spin down the ADSL super highway!
Q, When your new shiney Vehicle arrives and your locking nuts are missing where do you go?
A, your local dealer, you don't drive 300 miles to an office in someones loft do you
Q, when you breakdown and need a courtsy car who pays for it?
A, Try e-mailing mr all of a sudden unavailable
i could keep going, but i guess there are some people who just don't like social interaction
i am in business and i need my local custom,
i am not the cheapest, but people can talk to me and i can discuss and recomend things.
i know my specifications and can translate what they actualy meen and do, not just read fron a list.
i for one like talking to people dealing and haggling, dealers are imop are only trying to make a living and employ local people
people are turning this world in to a faceless society to save a couple of quid.

when i bought my hse the dealer showed my there invoice from land rover
it was in the reagon of £35170 + VAT which is £41,325 he told me that there is another 5% back end money at the end of there year if they hit targets. for a lot of smaller that is a big gamble. when you wave your £38k quote at them they s t themselves as they sell a car but make a loss
go bust
lots of people lose there jobs
taxes go up to pay for them.
landrover move production to china to save costs
4000 more people lose there jobs

But the dealer who charges more needs to supply customer service and many fail on this! I will buy from a dealer even if they are more expensive but I want them to at least return my calls or else I will buy from the cheaper supplier! Loving the power of the TDV8!

I agree with Mr Owl - to a point...
It's not just lowest price but value for money, whether it's a Disco3 or a box of screws When I was 'on the tools' I knew I could go to a locally owned and run wholesalers and get better, faster and more personal service than from one of the national chains - so I'd use them, even though they were up to 10% more expensive. But, I also used one of the national chains, that employed local people, therefore supporting the local economy - for 'price jobs' - the point? value for money was aceived in both cases, in thecase of the local supplier, I knew I could rely on them for urgent or hard to find stuff and they'd remember me. in the case of the national supplier, I knew I could get competitive prices whilst still keeping 'locals' in work...
In the end of course, it all went to rat-sh*t, the small company had a fire and never recovered and the branch manager got caught with his pants down with the regional managers mistress (not Mrs.) and was replaced by a Bosnian, who promptly embezzled all the cash sales to send to his family. The branch closed during the investigation and never reopened due to all the customers fecking off to another wholesalers eleven miles away

If you've got a mini spare I'll have it as long as it's not Green. Do you buy from a dealer or direct? Loving the power of the TDV8!
