Okay i've just checked, and i've just found out i'm dense. (yes it took me that long) Embarassed

as i understand it, you cannot change the settings of the video's when up-loading to google and the settings you've quoted are figures for what will work best on the site.

the video i am trying to up-load is a mp4 file and i used my Nokia N93 phone to record it, i know it is not the best quality camera ever made but when watching the videos from my desktop they are considerably better quality than when up-loaded to google.

so do i have to put the video through another bit of software to get it to keep it's quality, or do i give up and keep all my videos to myself?

the only programme i can open these mp4 files on my computer is quick time player, and i don't think i can adjust them in there either.

do i need to buy some editing software? and if so which is the best one that doesn't cost the earth?

Alex -

The video quality will always be worse when uploaded. They (Google/YouTube/whoever) will always store it in as small a format as possible. The best you can do is try to match the spec they require as closely as possible. The one I uploaded above is crystal clear on my PC, almost TV quality, but they still manage to mangle it Sad

To change the format/resolution you need seperate software. Windows Movie Maker is free - you might even have it, as it comes with Windows Service Pack 2 (see http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa...aker2.mspx). This is an easy to use (and quick to learn) program. A lot of on-line videos are edited with this.

Good luck Thumbs Up
