Big Thanks To Andy, AJS 4x4 & My Own Stupidity.

Andy, thanks a million, tyre arrived today and a weight off my shoulders, as I'm now back wearing the same boots. Bow down Thumbs Up

I had decided to drive through a small stream last Thursday, water was nice and high andi though an ideal opportunity to give the underside a wee wash and remove some of the recent road salt. There was a single track bridge for car, 4x4 size vehicles as well as the cut through the stream for HGV's etc.

Well, unfortunately i was the first to drive through the stream after the heavy rains and a part of the bridge (metal) had wash away and got trapped, at the nearside of the drive through.

The damage. Big Cry Big Cry

Bodsy, it went clean through the wire braid, yet there was no issue whilst driving through the water.
Felt an obstacle and just though it was maybe a rock washed down in the flood.

I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Ron, i've never seen a tyre take such a slice.

There was no real resistance going through the water, felt like hitting a boulder and a wee feather of the throttle to pull the car up over it.........obviously it wasn't a boulder as the car veered to the left when i got back out onto the hard stuff, then i noticed the slash on the sidewall.

Wasn't till i removed the rim that i saw the stste of the tread.

Ah well, the proverbial happens. Rolling with laughter

Shocked

Alan, luckily no damage to the wheel as many have said. You can live with the cost of a tyre getting knackered but adding in a wheel to the cost is a different matter.
