Bike rack - anything rack?

If you're in the market for a bike rack for 4 and not bothered about opening the tailgate when fully loaded may I suggest the Bak Rak. (note no connections, etc etc)

I had ordered a Maxx Raxx thingy but the delays and lack of local installer and the fact that I don't want to tow added to my search for an alternative.

The rack is basically a platform that with the use of an ingenious non-damaging clamshell is held on the towball. It can hold a massive amount of weight (they have tested it to 600Kg!) but of course you wouldn't want to do that even with a D3. It can be used as an auxillary load platform only but with the right bits makes a superb and very stable bike carrier for up to 4 bikes.

The weight of the rack is 21Kg with all the bike rack attachments. With no protrusions as per my pics the total legth is 5.94m. 6.0m is the golden length for many car ferries.

The company do loads of attachments that allow you to carry boxes, bikes with boxes & so on. Tech support it great and easily available. No expert fitment is needed. A few hours of grown-up meccano is needed to assemble the rack - a one-off process. After that the rack is fitted by lowering it on and tightening up one 19mm bolt.

I also think it looks pretty cool 8) 8)

So what one is that? I'm going to be looking at something similar to carry ski gear in when the roofboxes are full of duvets and other non-essential crap
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Find all the answers at:

http://www.bak-rak.com/

There you will need the basic rack, an extension kit and light board attachment kit and a board if you need one

The things that hold the bikes on are roof rack bike holders so you can buy as cheap or expensive as you like I bought Fapa Velo ones because they are lockable and hold the frame very securely. I think I got them from roofbox.co.uk.
