BL Farrar
I'm very sad to announce that site user, BL Farrar, passed away in Huddersfield in July at the age of 67, after a short battle with Prostate Cancer.
Bruce Lee Farrar joined the site in 2006 and made his mark very quickly ...mostly by upsetting all of the site stalwarts of the day . He was the first to admit he was a marmite character, he had strong moral views and opinions and he fought his corner with vigor ....his seemingly endless essays of responses always made me chuckle .
I met him on a factory tour and, as is often is the case, the people you judge from the written word who are going to be the least friendly when you meet them in person are in fact quite the opposite, he was a gentleman to talk to.
Despite on many occasions my sparring with him to the point of distraction to others, we actually got on well in the background.
A month before he passed we exchanged several PM's and I hadn't heard anything further until today when Gareth asked me if I knew where he was. I did a search and sadly found his family notice.
I'm sure he'll forgive me for letting everyone know how much he relied upon this site and all of us to distract him from his darkest hours.

.....Maybe it isn't realised what the forum provides
...A diversion to another place - essential.
Thanks
Regards
Bruce
RIP Bruce

Bruce often made me smile, sadly the forum will be a quieter place without him - I'll miss him.
Condolences to his family, if they read this.
I'll raise a glass in his direction this evening.

Awful news.
Have to be honest didn't have time to read his large replies but did chat to him quite a bit.
I am due my special prostate exam next year and was putting it off.
I won't now.

Really sad news. I too was on the factory tour when Bruce turned up. He was nothing like his on line persona, and was a pleasant chap to be with.
I know he went on a bit, in fact I think used Siri or something to dictate his posts! hence all the typo's !!
However, he was a genuine person, and whilst his opinions were not always mainstream, and you may or may not have agreed with his politics, I think he was an genuine honest chap.
RIP

Sad news to hear. He was one of the forum characters even if you didn't agree with him.
RIP Bruce.
On the same vein Bill Wright hasn't posted for a while. The forum has missed his Friday funnies.Today is the oldest you've been and the youngest you'll ever be again.

RIP Bruce
He did mention in one of his posts he was ill, and not seeing him active for a while I did fear the worst.
I couldn't fathom out half his posts. I just had to concede defeat in most debates of which I had a few
Anyway
I'll raise a glass to him
