This was my first LR and largest vehicle I have driven. Whilst I would trust the mirror when moving left on the motorways in previous cars, I always cast an eye over my shoulder in the D3. I also tend to monitor what I think is behind, more than I did before. It have not been a problem though - probably encourages better driving skills.2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

as a bloke who rides motorbikes, too many times have I been just about wiped out due to people being too lazy to check over their shoulder. not all vehicles are easily seen and it is a habit to take a look over my shoulder. it really doesn't hurt you know. having said that the vision out of the D3 really is quite amazing

I know where you are coming from. I also ride bikes and it does get scary at times. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Hang on a minute, there are two different types of mirror glass, one is flat and the other is convex. The convex glass gives a much wider angle of vision in the side mirrors..
Bingo. Following my "brush" with a white van, I found found a replacement glass on Ebay , and fitted it. And yes it was a flat. Good for seeing the bloke behind picking his nose in close up detail, not much good for the blind spot etc etc. At some point I'll be needing to get a UK version...............Somewhere in-between my old D3 and what's to come next .........

On every car I own, I always stick on bling spot mirrors. I wouldn't be without them. They're also useful when reversing.
The best ones I've found are the No.3 type from http://www.speeding.co.uk/acatalog/Mirrors.html
These are small round mirrors, but have an unusual base that tilts them even further - see photo below. The result is that they cover a wider angle than anything else I've tried. They're much better than the types that Halfords sell.

Am I doing something wrong? Half of the motorway disappears into a monster sized blindspot? Cars, lorries busses all disappear for minutes on end like a Bermuda Triangle.
Have you actually got a D3 yet then ? Or is this another inane question proceeding 'purchase'
Just wondering in case I missed the news.

Yes - I slipped quietly and un-noticed into D3 ownership two weeks ago.
