If your anything like me then that would have got you in trouble a few times over the years?!
Well done on sorting it out though, the permagrin can be reinstalled
Trust me, it has, as well as my inability to bite my tongue when needed....!
I have had awful thoughts over the past week, involving a can of petrol and a lighter, but the 1/2 hour drive took all them thoughts away and re-instated the permagrin...! Psycho by name, chilled by nature....!

Right then, that didn't work.........
The gorilla tape did not hold it, as it happened again, which I half expected.
So had to wait for the plug to arrive, which it did today, so out to car, swapped over the new clip, put back together, cleared the codes, car started up, happy days me thinks...!
Was very short lived though, as after just a few minutes, the voodoo happens again. So am now fearing the worst, the instrument cluster is fubared...! Psycho by name, chilled by nature....!

Yeah, I have been looking at them Geoff, but my first port of call, will be a few phone calls to places that repair instrument clusters. Most of them of offer warranties to there work, and it does not need recoding to the car. Psycho by name, chilled by nature....!

Update
My car is working again......! (hopefully it will stay that way)
I got in touch, following recommendations, with a company called 'BBA Reman'
I wrapped up my instrument cluster and sent it off to them, on Tuesday morning. Got a call on Friday.
'When we put the cluster on the bench, we could not get it to replicate the fault'
My heart sank.........!
'However Sir, when we took the cluster apart, and started testing separate components, we found a couple of faulty processors, on the canbus circuit.....! Would you like us to replace them sir?'
Bloody right I do...
The repair, carriage both ways, insured, plus the dreaded VAT, was £193.
That has been the longest wait for a parcel to arrive, dam bank holidays.
Turned up this morning, straight out to car all put back together, faults cleared, and did not reappear, and car started lovely. Psycho by name, chilled by nature....!
you should be patient. two years ago after a few weeks with problems with electricity/electronics our lovely Tonga Green spent four weeks in indy garage (JLR service was unusable). It has seemed impossible to find a solution. But at the end they found the problem- the cracked instruments cluster - ... and till now all is ok

Great result, I can only imagine how relieved you feel now
I have a similar issue to you, I get all the errors on the dash but the sat nav screen doesn't go off. I just spent the morning checking all the connection behind the battery and all are ok and dry.
Can I ask when you had the issue did your IID tool work ok? I left mine plugged in started truck all ok, then a few minutes later usual lights on dash, indicators flashing, etc, but I couldn't get the IID tool to do anything. Not sure if its the lack of comms from the steering wheel buttons, as I was in the middle of reading the faults and then I couldn't exit or do anything in that menu..
I was just about to crawl under the NSR to check the loom and connection there, but we got a mas hail & thunder storm going on. !!
Cheers for any help.
