Bluetooth Echo/poor quality sound

When using the bluetooth to phone out, people on the other end of the line have trouble hearing me usually because of an echo or some form of sound distortion - I can hear them ok - Is anyone aware of this happening and is there a fix for it?

Try turning your volume down, normally fixes echo issues

There is a known problem of echo when using some Nokia phones with Parrot bluetooth kits, doesn't occur when the same phone is used with a Nokia carkit (which is why Nokia aren't fixing it...). Could this be you?
 Cheers

I have had a similar problem - not fixable by turning the volume down etc. Dealer initially told me they had fixed it with a software update. So I rang them as I drove away after picking it up - as they could not understand what I was saying, I went straight back! After having had what the dealer referred to as "the module" changed and the mic (not that I think that made any difference) and having another software upgrade to the latest level, it is much improved but still a bit more tinny than it should be (based on comparison with my phone from another D3).

Out of curiosity, what age of D3 and what phone are you using?

Thanks for the suggestions

The phone is a nokia 6300

The car is a 56 plate HSE - it's had an upgrade of the phone software so the phone book works

If you have not already, it would be worth checking the phone compatibility on the LR website and also trying another phone with your D3. Not because it will necessarily make any difference, but it will take away the first 2 things the dealer asks every time I have mine looked at!

Interestingly, the dealer always looks very suspiciously at my Sony Ericsson phones and tells me it seems to work better with his Nokia.

FYI I had the exact same problem with my Nokia 6300 - I also have the latest phone module fitted

Since changing the phone (to an E71) all the echo problems have gone away !!

I have the same issue with a Samsung Blackjack II.

What I have found though is if I initiate the call using the downloaded Phonebook, use radio keypad or select a number stored in the SATNAV, I get the echo of my voice over the car speakers.

If I initiate the call using the actual mobile's keypad, or select a contact saved in the mobile's directory, then I have no echo and the sound quality is fine.

Had a LR2 loaner recently and paired my phone and had the same result but the LR compatibility web site states it is fully compatible for LR3.

That's interesting - I have been wondering why I sometimes get echo and sometimes not. Do you know if something similar applies to incoming calls, ie if you answer with the steering wheel control or the button on the stereo does it give you a different experience compared with accepting the call on the handset answer button?

I am pretty sure that all incoming calls I have received haven't ever had an echo. Only calls initiated from vehicle controls.
