Bluetooth - Parrot or Land Rover???

Want to fit a Bluetooth kit to my newly aquired 57 SE & have been reading various posts re parrot & the Land Rover kits. From what I have read on this site Land Rover Kit seems rather expensive & rather a swine to fit & parrot seems a fair bit easier (with appropriate adaptors).
Would you guys with rather more experience agree?? Also , when all said & done which kit performs better?? I only want one to make calls after all, no fancy audi streaming needed here!! Thanks in advance.

Parrot 8 days a week! I have the LR kit and I dont think its all its cracked up to be in regards to sound quality, the voice activation is pretty good but that doesn't mean a whole lot when the person on the other end cant make out a word you're saying. I have Parrot kits in a few vans and they sound pretty good.

I had a similar dilemma myself with the exception that I already had a Parrot 3200 LS that I had removed from my previous car.

I would have liked the fully integrated approach but knowing how good the Parrot was and reading comments on this forum about problems with the LR kit, especially as a retrofit, I decided on the Parrot.

In fairness, I can’t comment on the LR Bluetooth in terms of personal experience but I can vouch for the Parrot.
Fitting it electrically was relatively simple once I had the relevant adaptors to hand.

If you were to go down this route, the precise combination of adaptors required is depending on what spec audio system is fitted in your car, there are plenty of threads on here covering this.

The decision as to where to place the unit physically was resolved for me when I pulled off the trim panel to the left of the steering column and found a conveniently placed fixing screw to attach a bracket to. I made the bracket from a piece of aluminium strip suitably shaped and painted black where it shows, the wiring is all hidden then beneath the trim and centre dash ”H” section with no holes or other tell-tale marks on the car.

Other threads on the forum tell you that the BT module needed is no longer available.
I've heard no word of a replacement for it.

Personally, I have the retrofit BT unit which is not working flawless (have to manually connect every time) but I'm sticking with it until LR offers a replacement unit, only because I like it I have nothing in sight in the car.

Parrott all day, every day. Several options available, some with colour screen, and one with streaming for music. If installed correctly it will dim the music and will come through one speaker in drivers door.

You can pair several phones to it, and much more reliable than the LR one. Pictures of the CK3200 in my Gallery, and how to install

One proble with the LR Bluetooth kit is .... They dont make the bluetooth module anymore, so aside from the great advice on the parrot kit then the decesion may already be made for you!
