Bluetooth phone cradle

My car has the bluetooth kit fitted but need a cradle to hold the phone power it and use the memory to the dashboard. Does anyone know whether these are a standard part and where to buy them? LR dealers dont seem to carry stock [and charge a lot].
Have to pick the phone up currently to see whos calling which kind of defeats the object of hands free. Thank you

Now I am getting Rolling Eyes confused Rolling Eyes I phoned up LR & got a totally different list of phones that would work with the D3 - as to what was on the PDF file on the website. I was also told the 'bluetooth intergration' 2006 models - meant I didnt need the cradle for accessing the rest of the phones services. Somehow I just dont think thats true- in any case I would recommend anybody concerned about phone compatibility phone up LR direct & not rely on the website list.

I have the phone system in but no cradle. The phone works brilliantly. I just let it rest somewhere convenient in the car, usually in my case or on the seat and it's fine.

ricric,

Do you mean you access all phone features (phone list and call functions) from the car´s handsfree system? When you receive a call, it shows on the car screen?

What phone do you use?

Thanks![/quote]

Well so far I have just used the call and dial features. I haven't gotten around to the rest of it.

Now you mention it though I'll give the rest of the features a try. Only thing is I'm doing my level 1 tomorrow and fitting led's on Sunday so it may be a couple of days...

Bluetooth connected phones can display the phone number (not "name") on the head unit and dash info screen... with the factory fitted PTI. That's it.

Land Rover's factory PTI over Bluetooth is fairly basic:

1) Obviously, answer and drop phone calls.
2) Store and dial voice tags and phone numbers in the voice recognition system.
3) Dial "live" by speaking the phone number.
4) Dial phone numbers (or generate touchtones) using the keypad on the radio head unit.
5) See the phone number of the caller on the stereo head unit (not the name).

If you have a phone connected via cradle (not Bluetooth), you gain:

1) Browse your actual phonebook and calling log via the radio head unit.
2) Display the name of the caller on the display (if entered in your phonebook.)
3) Display signal strength.
4) Charge your phone.
5) External antenna.
6) Turn off your phone from the head unit.
7) Call Waiting support. (Answer 2nd call and switch between them from vehicle controls.)

Are these facts true for the dealer fit blue tooth, or are they from the factory fit blue tooth only?

I agree with Grommet - the Factory PTI with the phone IN the cradle does all that he states.
I've got a 6230 in the cradle and it works fine.. only thing is whenever I select the phone, I get the radio/CD/AUX turning on at whatever volume is selected - until the actual call is in progress...
Annoying if you're just driving without radio and need to make a call - you then get a blast of radio/CD/Aux until the call connects - odd.
Doesn't work like the Jag system...
