Boe rigg campsite in Northumberland ?
Ok,my wife,who clearly has a hitherto unknown sadistic streak,has booked us into the above mentioned campsite for a night tomorrow
To be fair it looks very nice,and is situated in the middle of the Nothumberland National Park....
Those that have read my narrative of previous camping exploits will know that I am really looking forward to it...
We're taking 2 tents this time ( no doubt so that me and the dog get one to ourselves )
Just wondered if anyone has stayed there before

A bunch of us camped there when we did a weekend of lanes, however we wild camped away from the main site on the opposite side of the road down by the river. We did use the facilities once as a starting point for the Kielder Safari and it left a lot to be desired and actually closed down for a bit after that. But, it has now reopened and have heard some good reports about it, a forum member, Mark stayed there the night before he did the Safari and said it was really nice. They used to have an onsite bistro but this has now closed and has become a coffee shed (whatever one of those is) but the showers, toliets etc are excellent, they also have a very nice bunkhouse and I believe they have a loft now which is smaller than the bunkhouse. I drove past on Saturday and it actually seemed quite busy which is the first time I have noticed it like that, you are only 5 minutes out of Bellingham, which has a Co-op and plenty of pubs and you have Kielder in the other direction. Yes we did stay there before the Kielder Safari. Great washroom facilities and nice spacious site without any over crowding. Cafe was shut as we arrived late and left early but looked good and a nice place to avoid any bad weather you maybe having.
Lovely area and the Kielder Safari was a great days gentle off reading in stunning scenery

All sounds good so far.....have missed the Kielder a couple of times,but trying to get a second set of wheels with ATR's so I can join the fun.....

Just about to head out for at look at some trails that Hairy Dan recommended......asked a local the way there and he said "you won't manage that in a Discovery,that's not a real 4X4" ! :evil:

I get limited opportunities to do the Kielder 4x4 as I work weekends,but am determined to get a 2nd set of wheels with ATR's so I can do it at short notice
