I don't know whether this is in the forum somewhere already but having the bonnet stuck closed must be due to a number of issues.
So what are the issues that commonly cause this problem and what are the preventative measures/maintenance that can be used.
I haven't had this problem as yet, however I would like to be better informed just in case I'm parked conveniently next to my garage which always happens....Not!!

to answer your question( s ) and usefully bump the poll at the same time ...
1. the 2 latches get too bunged up with crud to operate ... equally likely to stop the bonnet latching down, so worth giving them a good clean and some fresh grease now and again.
2. one or more of the cables snap. cause is usually "1" above.
3. the cable from the internal lever is NOT the one that goes all the way to the nearside latch. There is a joint which has been known to pop apart. Can be secured with cable-ties to prevent it "popping".
4. and this is a new one on me but is an active discussion on a FB group ... the internal level breaks. I'd hazard a guess that "1" above would be the underlying cause, requiring more effort than the plastic lever can stand.

Thanks Hardware, might even make a reachable workaround at the point of latch as a "just in case).
As usual if someone wants the car they will take it by any means!!
