When you say "grinding" can you be more descriptive? Could it be the ABS kicking in for some reason, and its this you are hearing? You would feel this through the pedal as well! Does it happen when steering straight ahead, turning, or both?

Take it back to whoever fitted the brakes and pads ASAP, did you have front and rear fitted or just the rear?
If the brakes are grinding the vehicle should be used as little as possible or not at all or you will have another large bill to pay.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
