Brake light switch / EPB

My wife moved the D3 this morning but told me that she could't get the EPB to work when she stopped.

I checked and the EPB didn't seem to be working at all. no sound from the actuator, no red light and the car still moved in drive or reverse.

The EPB did work if you were moving very slowly and pulled up and held the EPB switch. the the red light would come on and stay on. The EPD would then release as normal.

I'm only a mile of so from a dealer so i took it in.

They have just rung to say that the fault has been traced to the Brake Light switch. Unfortunately they can't get the part until Monday Sad

Does this sound right? I've had a look at other posts for EPB and the Brake light Switch but can't find anything similar.

Those of Greater Knowledge will be along shortly but it seems that anything affecting brake lights can fundamentally alter pretty well every function of the D3... Shocked
2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods

Yep, it's a dual circuit switch, unless it's status is broadcast on high-speed CAN then several systems operate in safe mode. if it's status cannot be reliably determined then several DTC's are set in various modules including the EPB, TCM, ECM, terrain response, ABS (including HDC & DSC) and a couple of others I can't remember Rolling Eyes

Okay, thank you that reassures me that the dealer is likely to be on the right track. Thumbs Up
