Brake Upgrade

I need to renew the pads and discs on my 2010 D4. Although I found the standard brake set up to be way better than the standard D3's (I fitted the V8 upgrade) I was wondering if anyone can recommend a simple but effective upgrade ie. Brembo discs and pads or something similar!

Disco_Mikey is selling the V8 upgrade for D3's. And whilst I can recommend that for the D3, I'm looking for potential improvements for a D4

To improve on the D4 setup, you need to go for ceramic brake pads, or 6 pot Brembos Thumbs Up

Thanks, Disco Mikey,

Didn't want to go to the expense of the Brembo 6 pots. Can you recommend a particular brand of ceramic pads and what about discs? Should I stick with LR originals? Bow down

I have had no luck with ANY brand of that size of disc, other than genuine.

As for pads, I do like EBC Red/Yellowstuff, but AF did seems to have a low dust ceramic pad offering for D4. Never used them though, so can't comment

Disco_Mikey,

Thanks for the update. Thumbs Up I've been doing as much research as I can about this and the general feeling seems to be as you say; LR discs are best.

It says a lot for the brakes on the D4 that there isn't a load of topics on brake upgrades; unlike the D3's brakes which were pretty poor in standard trim!

The discs are the same size as the 4 pot Brembos as fitted to the RRS, with a similar sized pad

Thumbs Up

Disco Mikey can you tell me the pat numbers of the Yellowstuff pads you are on about? The EBC website lists 3 different types including Yellowstuff Truck/SUV pads which I assume would be better suited to the weight of the D4.
When I went to the EBC online site the "Truck" pads are not listed. Has anyone used the "Truck" pads or know where to get them? Are they only available in the USA
