Braking problem - won't stop at slow speed occasionally
Hi there,
Recently I have experienced 2 occasions where my D3 would not stop no matter how hard you pushed the brake pedal. It occurs at less than 10kph.
The situation is a road that is downhill in peak hour traffic and the A/C running in pretty hot weather. The brake pedal feels rock hard and no matter how hard you push the car continues to roll forward.
I have wondered if it has something to do with the A/C making the engine run faster but I can't understand why the brake pedal feels rock hard.
This has occurred twice in the last few weeks and has scared me and because you aren't expecting this you aren't prepared to even think about pulling on the EPB. Fortunately the car did stop before rear ending the car in front but I don't think I can be lucky all the time.
Does anyone know if this is a known issue or what might be causing this.
Please note that the D3 is a 2005 TDV6 and generally the D3 stops like it normally does which is quite predicatble.
Thanks

Don't forget, in the event of a total servo failure, you can stop the car by pulling (and holding) on the 'handbrake' lever - this will then use the ABS Booster to bring the car to a halt before applying the EPB ...Regards,

Mine's out of warranty and I never knew of the recall so I wonder how the Dealer will treat this repair. At least I know my problem is probably related to this known issue.

I am in the same boat
car is at dealer waiting on parts for failed brake booster and master cylinder
as I am just under the VIN # range they figure its my fault and want $1000 + to fix it, and as I understand it, were going to put the old hoses back !
the recall VIN # range is just a guess IMHO
check out this forum and you will find many others, including Australians in a similar position
some have had the job fixed under warranty.
