Break in period questions??

Does anyone abide by this?

I know it says keep under 3000 rpm and 65 mph (us) for 500 miles... what's the harm?

I think I would definitely abide by this if I owned, but since I'm leasing...

what do folks think? Will I be doing harm? Even in the 2 years that I will have this thing?

Dunno about anyone else but I followed the running in instructions and hope this was the best thing to do.

It is always best to run a car in, but the good thing is that the Jag engine (2.7) in the D3 is already bench run in. Tyres are equally important to settle in together with brakes. Careful running in can also detect faults more easily before they become desasters.
