Broken down...... Again!

Evening all,

So, after a pleasant day in the Cotswolds, I kicked down on a crawler lane only to be met by plumes of smoke 😩

I had a quick peak under the bonnet to find it wet and smoking around the turbo..

I limped to Stratford and had a better look, found that the whole underside is covered in fuel and/ or oil..

It’s a strange one, as it smells very distinctively of fuel but feels and looks like oil so I guess it may be both?

So, now the AGAIN part.. so I broke down nearly a month ago, and it took the dealers (Inchcape Derby) to diagnose a cracked inlet manifold, that was replaced a little over a week ago.

Now it seems there’s a leak from around inlet manifold. 😩

So the family have been shipped off in a taxi and I’m
Now on a recovery truck on way home..

Needless to say, I will be on the phone to LR tomorrow, I would guess that the warranty won’t pay out so it’ll be down to the dealer to rectify? Has any one had issues with dealers with warranty work? Or does anyone whatbits likely to be? A certain seal, pipe or gasket?

The parts fitted and work carried out should be covered by warranty ...I would contact the dealership 1st though.

I understand that the work will be covered, but I would guess it’s less likely to be parts failure and more likely the technician has done something wrong..

So if it’s down to the fitter, who fits the bill? The dealer or warranty?

The warranty company surely won’t want to pay for an error made by the dealer?

Just home at 1am Yawn

Driver rightly took it slow as (personally I think) his truck was way overloaded with the D4 on the back!

Thanks DG..

Is it likely that the dealer will find that there is a 'separate issue' with the parts fitted.

For example, if they had left an injector pipe loose and it was leaking fuel, are they likely to just say that the pipe is faulty so that they don't pick up the bill and it's claimed through the warranty?

I had a similar issue earlier this year, went in for a compressor not working. They replaced the compressor.. still faulty They replaced the Exhaust Valve - Still faulty..

They repaired the wiring behind the headlight.. works a treat..

But when I saw the invoice all that was mentioned is that the compressor was replaced.. I didn't complain as I got a new compressor Whistle but is still very dishonest for a main dealer.

one thing made me laugh though, It was recovered into the dealer yesterday, which happened to coincide with their summer sale event Rolling with laughter Thumbs Up
