Actually DG, we did vote for John Major to be PM (although not when he took over from Maggie) he has been voted for , it was the following election when he was kicked in to touch and replaced by Bliar.

the main difference is that I don't think Brown will ever get to find out what it is like to be voted for Whistle

edit: and as we are mentioning John Major I am sure you would also appreciate a little 'light relief' looking at his daughter in law Wink Whistle

Didn't Major win the '92 election? Maybe if Gormless Clown can win next year, a few people might get off his back about the whole "unelected" thing, although in fairness it's the party that is elected, not the PM. No longer a D3 owner but still subscribed to multiple threads!
