I feel this is very strong and will not fail. I don't leave the unit in my car the whole time, I remove it and store it in my garage roof. I do separate the top section and lift that out first.
Others have extended the cable with a drawer wire around to the back of the rear passengers seat as they have cargo barriers and drawers fitted. I can't seem to find that forum topic sorry.2005 TDV6 HSE Silver, LLAMS Height Controller, Tinted Glass, Onroad - 19" GG AT's, Offroad - 18" 275/65 MT, Traxside Dual Battery kit, Rasta Protection Plate, Alpine Roof, BAS Remap, ARB Air Compressor, eDiff Custom Drawer and storage unit -http://www.box.com/s/jem0ilac3cner2mexq64 UHF CB, 4x4 Intellegence RWC, 120ltr Long range tank, Rock Sliders and Compressor protection plate Beanie grill, De Tango.

Actually if I did ever have an issue with my setup I can get to the turnbuckles just behind the rear seats, loosen them off and remove them, pull the unit forward enough to make the back ones loose and remove them too.
Then I can pull the unit as far forward as I like to get access to the tailgate.
Yes I am skinny. 2005 TDV6 HSE Silver, LLAMS Height Controller, Tinted Glass, Onroad - 19" GG AT's, Offroad - 18" 275/65 MT, Traxside Dual Battery kit, Rasta Protection Plate, Alpine Roof, BAS Remap, ARB Air Compressor, eDiff Custom Drawer and storage unit -http://www.box.com/s/jem0ilac3cner2mexq64 UHF CB, 4x4 Intellegence RWC, 120ltr Long range tank, Rock Sliders and Compressor protection plate Beanie grill, De Tango.

Hi, I appreciate that this thread is over ten years old, but I love the build method and would like to have a go. I tried to download your high res guide but I think the link is broken, or you've moved it or is died a natural death I don't suppose you still have them?
Thanks in advance

That's why I like this forum ... a thread gets resurrected after 9 years and a member who hasn't posted in 4 years leaps in to help someone. .

Sold the D3 3yrs ago, the drawer system lives on in my Toyota Fortuner.
The left hand drawer has been changed to a pull out kitchen.
I missed not having a tailgate as a table.

Hi Rich,
Thanks for taking the time to put together these excellent plans and instructions.
I have just downloaded them, maybe put some pictures up when finished.
