Bushes!

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a couple of bits of advice really. I've been told that I need new Bushes for:

OS & NS Front Lower Suspension Arm Rear Bushes

OS and NS Rear Top Suspension Arm Inner Bushes

So a couple of questions:

1 - Where is the best place to get bushes - and before you all type TLO, I've already dropped Nick an email asking for a quote! I did wonder if non LR might be a cheaper option - thoughts on this?

Secondly, do you know how easy these are to change, I've done a bit of reading on here, about buying new arms, but I don't know if that is required / easy option for the bushes I need.

Also I've been told that I have a leaky fuel injector seal, anyone know if this is easy to change or does it require specialist tools?

As ever thanks in advance Thumbs Up

Get the OEM bushes, there are polybush alternatives but if you like the way the D3 smooths out the bumps...
Most cost-effective option is to replace the arms complete, the bushes are pre-fitted in the correct orientation - don't forget to get all the nuts, bolts & washers though, you'll have to cut at least two bolts out! Wink

Which bolts do you have to cut out? I may be able to get a quantity.

I'll 2nd what 10forcash says, I went down the line of just buying the bushes but due to the pins being stuck in I had to cut off the arm so ended up putting the complete arms on. its more cost effective too. comes with ball joint and bushes so they are all changed toghther Thumbs Up

Make a massive difference too. Smile

Iain et all,

Thanks for all the info. I suspect that is what Nick will come back with then. So if you guys think that OEM is the best option then I'm sure I've already made the best move by contacting TLO.

Thanks Thumbs Up

Any thoughts on the Fuel Injector Seal?

Wouldn't attempt this myself.
Had all mine [OEM] done at the dealer last week.
They had the D3 for a total of 4 days [+ weekend].
The bushes were a pig to get off so arms were renewed as it was cheaper than paying the cost of labour.
BTW, it'll also need a 4 wheel alignment.
Best bet is a competent dealer/TFC etc IMO.

Good luck.
Thumbs Up

Stu,
Unfortunately I'm having mine done next week when the parts arrive. Had a detailed talk to the work shop guys at Duckworth and they explained exactly has already been outlined in the previous posts. Renew the lot, cutting bolts etc etc. No easy way of doing it. I hadn't thought about the alignment, must be in the price quoted. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

FWIW, all the sets I have done, I have never had to cut the bolts out, just had a happy time with Mr Hammer...

Although, I have probably just jinxed it, as I have a set to do today Laughing

Yup, jinxed it! 9 inch grinder came in bloody handy Rolling with laughter

That is probably the only way I would attempt doing them in a driveway, or again for that matter. Had each side done im a little over an hour per side, start to finish Thumbs Up

I changed both rear bushes on mine and 2 bolts. The bushes where £15 each gen L/R arms where about £125 each. What took the time was getting the arms off which you have to do anyhow. Marked all 4 excentic cams on the bushes. The rear bushes took about 15 mins to change just made sure I marked there posistion so the new ones went back in the same place. Car drives straight and steering wheel in the same position so didn't get the alinement checked..
