Buying 19" Tyres in France

Does anyone have experience of buying tyres in France?
We are due to set off soon to south of France and the Zero's are down to about 4-5mm (and that's after only 13000 miles driving like miss Daisy Censored ). The scottish side of me is very reluctant to buy a new set before we go, so I wondered if anyone had experience of buying tyres in France, prices, availability etc?

Not exactly France, but 19" tyres are getting rare here in Oz. Today I picked up a set of 18" wheels (highly used) and Cooper HT+ tyres for about the same price as new Scorpion Zeros would cost. We are on a much thinner distribution chain than Europe, so the shortage may be a domestic thing, but my tyre supplier said that he's had trouble getting them. You may find someone with them now, but can't get them if/when you need some. You might want to pre-purchase some but leave them at home, and utilise the Disco3 courier service to get them to you if needed.

With the strong Euro against the pound I cannot imagine that you can buy tyres at lower or even the same prices as in GB. I buy all parts nowaday from the UK. Even with freight charges included parts are far cheaper.

Thanks Guys, looks like I am going to have to get a new set before next week (unfortunately) Big Cry

It just goes against the grain to get new when there is still life in the old.

Not quite sure why you would want to replace tyres that still have 4-5mm left... that's only half worn, isn't it?
I wouldn't think a return trip to the S of France (1500 miles-ish?) would eat up more than 1mm in normal driving conditions Whistle

Don't do it...you will get cheaper tyres from AJS (and others). As Renton said - some items are cheaper in the UK.

I had to have a 19" Goodyear Wrangler replaced last year - 400 euro for one... Shocked (Luckily, the insurance/leasing contract covered it).
The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Club "yes, I too have had the EGR's replaced..."
Club "yes, I too have had the compressor replaced..."
Club "yes, I too once had the car at the dealer for a couple of weeks nearly 4 weeks over 4 weeks...5 weeks"
Club "yes, I too have had EPB failure..."
Club "yes, I too get mysterious bings and bongs..."
