Buying today advice - From Disco3 without Log Book V5C ?

Hi

Long term lurker, now about to buy a D4 from this here site, this one specifically https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/sale-2014-6...80984.html

If all goes to plan this afternoon at least.

The seller had a private plate on the car, which has been transferred etc, but typically the log book hasn't arrived yet from DVLA. I'm going up today, as it's the only day I've got.

I can only do a HPI check on the private plate, as hpicheck results state that there is no information from this registration on DVLA for the new registration.

So my question to the experts is - how do I ensure it is all tickety boo, without a log book ?

I'd agree - when I transferred my Private Plate onto retention, the DVLA took a few days to send the V5
Now Golf GTI PP, 7 speed DSG.

Is that still Euro 6 compliant without the Adblue.
Heard of many Londoners selling their older vehicles and only looking for EU6 since the ULEZ zone came into being.

The car's not old enough or covered enough miles to need the belts done (7 years / 110k).

Check the service record to make sure everything in order.

Check the MoT history online (you'll need the proper reg) for advisories or fails.

Current 'LL' plate is now on a RR Ewok.

Is that correct? According to other threads it's 7 years or 112k on D4.

Dur..... I refer you to caveat in my original post. It appears that it is missing 'I'm an Censored ' after the 'I'm no expert....'. Updated mileage info. Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

Hope no one has rushed out and done the belts on the strength of my advice.....

quick update

To save anyone having to read any further if they don't want to - I went, saw and bought it.

Over the last 30 years I've bought and sold loads of cars and motorbikes, always been careful - using hpicheck and before that the insurance company and old bill (when you used to be able to), avoiding a couple of near misses with stolen cars and other dodgy cars along the way. Always going with the belief that you can usually tell if you ask enough questions if it's all ok and kosher.

Yesterday the car drove impeccably, looked exactly as described, seller (slug) was genuine, nothing at any point felt rushed or suspect.

So despite umming and ahhing all the way up on the train; as to whether it was sensible to buy a car without the V5 present, I decided I would if it all felt genuine, which it did.

Only one day in, but the D4 HSE has exceeded my expectations, it is stunning to drive and has real presence.

Very happy. Very Happy
