Cabin temperature sensor calibration on Discovery 4
Does anyone know if it is possible to re-calibrate the cabin temperature sensor on a Discovery 4?
Mine reads high by about 8 degrees, which is obviously confusing the climate control.
I already cleaned the sensor which was completely blocked with dust.

It's to the left of the steering column on a RHD car, behind a little square grille about where your left knee would be. You need to remove that panel that the grille is set into.Bentley 8

May I ask plse apart from the one by the steering wheel is there another sensor behind that square grill by on the centre of the dashboard by the windscreen plse

You mean in the interior light cluster? See photo. Could be. I think the mic is the little circular piece in front of the light.Bentley 8

Apologises as looking further that sensor in the link is a sunlight sensor
Indeed as u say with ref the cabin temp sensor , ie
The in-vehicle temperature sensor is a NTC thermistor installed behind a grill in the instrument panel, on the inboard side of the steering column. The sensor is connected to a tube, the other end of which is connected to a venturi on the side casing of the heater. An air bleed from the heater, through the venturi, induces a flow of air down the tube, which draws cabin air through the grill and over the sensor.
Managed to find the air cabin sensor wiring in case it’s useful
Wonder if a hard reset would help , along with maybe seeing how much it’s out by using one of those handheld temperature laser readers that also show the air temperature , or maybe the other end of the tube is blocked ?
Or maybe the sensor itself is faulty , Sorry if you’ve already done that

I will take the panel off again and clean the sensor with a cotton bud and some alcohol and also check that the tube connected to the back of the sensor for sucking air past it is not blocked further down.
I did check check the temperature with a separate hand held gauge which is how I know it it reading too high.Bentley 8

On warm sunny days the body feels the temp as a little higher than it is. On dull wintery days the body feels that the temp is a bit lower than it is.
Land Rover in their wisdom has incorporated this into the climate control system via the little bubble sensor in the front centre of the dash. It is basically a light sensor and I think it also controls the lights coming on but not sure.
What this sensor does is to tell the climate control to lower the A/C temp a couple of degrees on a bright sunny day from that set by the temp sensor and to raise the A/C temp a couple of degrees when it is overcast etc. Not sure what happens at night.
So the temp you read near the temp sensor may not be correct anyway. I have stick on temp gauge near the system temp gauge and it is always reading a few degrees higher that the temp set of the temp dials.

Many thks for the details , great to learn new things
As a side note because I didn’t have a cabin temperature gauge in my D3 I got one of the plug in ones, then later a proper gauge after fitting a gauge panel, was quite surprised they were virtually the same , in the end removed the plug in one for some USB ports

I removed the sensor and cleaned it with a cotton bud and alcohol. It was quite dirty.
When I the sensor out I blew compressed air down the tube.
