Cadac HP or LP?

Which Safari Chef would be best to buy? Would be used in Europe as well as UK, possibly camping as well as with the tin tent.

Seems HP uses the cartridges but a campingaz 904 would be refillable - not sure how long they last though.

Hi Dubbs,
I actually have both(3 actually) as I originally bought the canister one and found it took an age to cook, I emailed Cadac and they sent me a replacement which was exactly the same!! I emailed them again and they sent the non canister one which I have found great, downsides are cooking surface isnt huge but I managed to do a bbq for two adults and 3 kids last week without any major issues!! It can be a bit awkward as it is almost on the ground as opposed to the larger style cadac do!!! I will have another go with the canister one now you have reminded me!!

Jamie

I have this one, but the calor version (not branded after a silly chef) It pugs into the caravans gas port in the wet box as swell as other options. . Fantastic BBQ

Do the LP and HP have different cooking areas sizes then? Or are you referring to carri chef as opposed to safari chef?

Do your homework, as I've just returned from SA yesterday, and I looked at a few products thinking that the exchange rate would be favourable, but it wasn't. It was still cheaper to buy in the UK, and still have it delivered.

I bought hp. Didnt want to take two large gas bottles to France or keep swapping the pipe to the campingaz cooker. The cannisters last ages and work well and we can run both at the same time. Also it is a lot more handy for the beach or taking to the lake. Cadac is awesome, really been pleased with it

I've heard a lot of problems with the high pressure version using the canisters being difficult to get up to temperature compared to the LP one...

Personally I'd prefer the HP one due to it's more versatile nature but not sure I want to risk it not being up for the job.

I have the Safari Chef LP one, and run it off a 13KG Patio Gas bottle. It works fine for the 2 of us when out camping.

Cheers
