The price of a water bottle airside, in any terminal, sure makes you think it’s holy, too.

All started in 2014 because of this picture in Malaysia, apparently Cadbury's responded to a local question of "did their chocolate contain animal fat"
Didn't stop the lunatics kicking off (again....... ) four years later......

Halal doesn't mean 'holy', it merely means 'permissible under Islamic law' and applies to many things, not just animal slaughter/food, etc.

Yes, I’m aware. My comment regarding water was the amount of markup one sees for a bottle of it. If you go to the supermarket or a 7-11 it’s relatively cheap while in any kiosk airside it’ll be 4-5 eur/bottle by magic.
(Magic is haram - or forbidden - by Islam, btw)

Having worked for them for 28 years ... There is some regional variation (especially since the Sell Out to Kraft).. Mars and Nestle are also in the same boat.. IIRC (but its been awhile since I retired).
Some chocolate may contain Gelatine or Rennet... (as do many jelly type sweets ie Haribo)
You need to remember the Definition of what 'Halal' is.. it is the way in which the animal is killed (it must not be stunned to kill it..) ie a clean cut through the neck/windpipe/artery... and then the blood must be drained IS Halal while a bolt through the head is NOT Halal!
So... Halal is the Process NOT the type of meat.. Halal actually means 'permissible'...!
So I can understand why some food products can Easily be Halal, while others may struggle to get certified...
I would expect some products do want to be certified as tree hugging Angry Vegan compatible IF that is their target market... While others would think it totally irrelevant! The same applies to Halal certification...
Oh . and if you think you or your children or grand kids would ever eat Halal... Think again. The VAST majority of School Meals use Halal meat and its served in Pizza Express and a fair % of KFC (in areas that 'demand it'.....1 TR6 Rusting away quietly

And contrary to popular belief in excess of 80% of all Halal meat produced in the UK is actually pre-stunned.==================================
