Can’t play music while charging.

I have a 2012 xs and I’m able to stream music via Bluetooth (playing Spotify). The problem occurs when I connect the phone via the charge cable in to either the usb or iPod socket. It disconnects the Bluetooth streaming and says to connect via Bluetooth again. Every time I try to connect the phone via Bluetooth it fails to connect, but as soon as I unplug the phone it will connect again and I’m able to stream music.

It’s quite annoying when on a long journey and want to stream my music because if the battery is low I can’t charge it. Unless I get a USB adapter and plug it in to the 12v socket.

Hope you guys can help.

Cheers
Neil

Have the same problem and seems to be an undocumented feature 😉 I have a good quality cigarette socket USB charger (Anker I think) which works well.

Are you using an iPhone?

As dgarside says, it’s an undocumented feature! Apparently the vehicle doesn’t like having 2 Apple devices connected to play music at the same time. If you want to play music via the iPod or USB socket, then you have to delete it as a Bluetooth source. You can still use the phone to make/receive calls, but you can’t stream music. In the end I just use a USB adapter in the 12v socket.

I could go down that route too but it would be nice to actually get the things working like they should.

I’m guessing no one has a solution?!

Thing is if I un pair it, it still won’t work. It’s as if the usb and iPod connections aren’t even connected to the stereo

Unpair the phone as a Bluetooth music source, switch the vehicle off and let it go to sleep, and then try to use the USB port.
