Yes, it's "that" photo, the same photo that made the 2014 calendar on here Embarassed
Depressing lack of D3's/D4's though.....come on everyone, many of you have some fantastic shots of your cars, let's get a few more Discoveries in the 2020 one

Great photo, but I'd be worried that any association with **itpart would hurt the future resale value Whistle

It is a fabulous photo. Really atmospheric.

I don't know what the problem people have with Britpart is? For us Series LR owners, there sometimes is not much choice. At least they are obtaining long out of production parts that are affordable, and without them and other companies that sell the same parts under a different brand, there would be many old LR's on the scrapheap!

They have a fine line to tread when it comes to marketing. They have to keep it affordable, and yet to tool up to make some long obsolete part, make it, and distribute must be very expensive.

Thanks all Thumbs Up
I agree with Gareth, I haven't bought many parts for the Discovery from Britpart, but they're very useful for the Series 2a (not that it needs much)....it's horses for courses I guess. I did enter a couple of shots of my 2a also, but didn't have them in a high enough resolution for them to use. I'll make sure and avoid that pitfall next year.
Just waiting on my "prize" now, although I suspect a free calendar is looking favourite

The people who have issue with Britpart are the very same people who buy the cheapest of the cheap, then complain that it doesnt last as long as a genuine part Rolling Eyes

Britpart gave me an account 8 weeks ago, and I haven't ordered a single thing from Bearmach since...

It is becasue for years they have been selling carp, carp so bad it literally cannot do its job.
There is quite a bit of choice for series motors, its just sometimes you need very deep pockets for the other choices Shocked

To be fair if the part number has a G on the end its pretty tidy gear.

I have got britpart on all my three land rovers, but am selective in what I buy.

You know the old saying, years to get a good name and minutes to get a bad one, and its the bad one that people remember.

Yes I agree there has been some ropey stuff in the past. I did buy a new BP door latch for my 2a and it lasted weeks before the thing jammed. Got another FOC and it’s still going strong 10 years later!

Just put a BP fuel tank and brake servo onto Betsy and I have no complaints so far. 🤞

Maybe the people who have an issue with Britpart are those who don't get to bill their hours to someone else? Wink

Britpart sells some good stuff. My problem is that it can't (in my experience) be relied upon to be good, even for the same part bought at the same time. No way to know if they have changed supplier for a given part at any point. I don't want to spend my day having arguments at the parts counter - I've got better things to do. It's generally just not worth the potential savings for the additional risk of having my weekend in the shed stuffed by the lack of one useable part.

I will fit britpart at times - like anything else it's a judgement call. you balance up the time/risk/availability/price etc. and make a choice. No aftermarket supplier is fault free, sometimes things will get through that shouldn't or just never get spotted. I've had plenty of rough parts from other suppliers too.

BP may have to 'keep it affordable' but I can't afford to buy cheap parts that don't fit or don't work, and I've seen enough examples to be wary. YMMV.

You are right. Quality control could be better.

I have to be honest, I have never in 23 years of running Betsy, had to replace a set of front brake shoes due to them been worn out. They have always been killed by oil leakage from either a wheel cylinder or hub seal.

A lot of the offending cylinders or seals were BP. But latterly I used TRW parts from a well known on line supplier rhymes with haddock! They were cast iron construction rather than the alloy that I was used to, so I had high hopes they would last longer. Sadly not, got 2 years before one of them started weeping brake fluid onto the shoes.

At least the bits are cheap, and I’m pretty quick at changing it all now!
