Car lowers a little when turned off. Is this normal?
Putting this in general because I don't know if it's a fault but it's now making weird noises.
When I stop at lights it feels like the car lowers a little and then when I parked up tonight and locked it I heard a couple of controlled hisses and the car lowered a little. An inch maybe.. Then when starting up and drove off I heard a metallic rubbing noise screach screach screach screach.. and then silence. Thought maybe the brakes sticking, but maybe was car not being normal height.
No more noises on journey home and suspension feels good. Figured maybe the car was lower than normal and had risen a little.
So Q. Should the car be 'settling'? Anyone experience similar? Thx

Yes it’s normal for the car to lower/adjust itself every now and then. Some people call it disco farting.
As for the screeching.............. most likely (not in particular order)
- stone between pad and disk
- EPB shoes need adjusting
- stuck caliper

Thanks. That's positive to hear. I'll see if does again in morning, get a brake check if does it again. New disks and pads on 6 months old.

When you had your brakes changed, did that include the Parking brake shoes? After a while the lining begins to separate from the shoes and breaks off, getting wedged between shoe and drum causing screeching which may subside when the chunk has worn to dust. Thanks for info. Not a clue. Though it was with a reputable Indy LR specialist so hopefully they knew their stuff. No noises today at all so maybe just a stone. I'll take a look at the invoice when I get home from our trip, it was quite detailed.

I see you have a 2011 Landmark manual, very unusual if correct.
Whilst the suspension does lower when you stop it only lowers to the height of the lowest corner to self level.
Do you release the parking brake before moving off or rely on the auto release, best to release first unless you are making a hill start. I would also take the rear brake drums off for inspection and a clean out, LR recommend this every 50 miles if being used off road. It can when others can't,

Just a word of warning about that screech...
Mine did the same and I took the view that I'd sort it out when I got a free moment, only to find that a few miles later the handbrake seized and I had to pull the emergency release to get it going again.
The result is a need to rebuild the module or pay LR £1700 to fit a new one.
