Car maintenance
Hi
I know next to nothing about basic car maintenance and would like to expand my knowledge a bit.
I'm not looking to be able to strip and rebuild an engine, but I would like to know some basic maintenance.
Any hints / tips on where to start? I'm in the Glasgow area.2014 - D4 2010 HSE Nara Bronze

No, more seriously, lots of people mock the Haynes manuals and the current one for the Discovery is for the D3 but a lot of the basic bits are the same on the D4. You would be surprised how many time served mechanics have a selection of them, they will tell you "it's only for the torque settings etc" but have a look at how many pages have oily finger prints.
There are also some really excellent tutorials on here, Bodsy's brake bible, Robbie's guides to electrical testing and Disco-Mikey's walk through of how to remove the body on a D3 are 3 that spring immediately to mind and all have information that can teach an experienced engineer things but they also have lots of basic stuff that is of use to a beginner.
1997 Defender 90 for the kids and I to have a go at some competitive off road RTV and Tyro trials, daughter picked up her first trophy over the August Bank Holiday.
