Car not starting - no signal to starter motor trigger wire..
Hi All,
I've got a problem with the Disco after fiddling around with my Faultmate. I don't think it is connected to the fiddling but you never know??
Symptoms:- Turn on the ignition to position II, ignition lights come on as normal and car goes through its checks. Turn to position III to turn over the engine and all you get is a couple of clicks from the passenger compartment fuse/relay box.
I thought I had flattened the battery after having the Faultmate on for a while, so I put it on charge overnight. Next morning, still the same, so I wacked on some jump leads from my van as I didn't trust the starter, still the same.
Suspicious of the battery I gave the AA a call to get them to check out the battery.
'Very Nice Man' arrived, checked the battery & ruled that out. He had a good fiddle about and found there was no signal going down the starter motor trigger wire. He checked the relay and fuses but could not find anything out of the ordinary.
He then frigged up a direct feed to the trigger wire and the car started no problem.
Any ideas anyone? Is there a fuse somewhere both he and I have missed? I have tried another relay as the next one in the box is just the same spec and ruled that out.
I imagine it is something daft I have missed so I would really appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction specially as all my kids are disappointed about not going round Driffield off-road course today!! Eldest one is even talking about missing pony club tomorrow so we can go then!!
T.I.A. for any help,
Rich

2nd stupid question - it's got fuel? All things shipping, storage, transport. UK and worldwide.

In neutral (its a manual so shouldn't make a difference) and I have tried depressing clutch and brake just in case, even though it has never been necessary before. (in fact would rule out all those handy stalled hill start techniques given out by LR Experience)
Ta for the input though... Club N.E.R.D.s

As said in original post car starts & runs fine if direct feed sent down trigger wire to starter.
Tank 3/4's full too, to answer your question!!
Once again thanks for input... Club N.E.R.D.s

Are you sure you have'nt disabled your D3 with the Faultmate un-intentionally.
It is possible Mac, I have posted a message on the BBS website too.
Just seems odd that the car will run fine once started, seems more of a physical problem rather than software. No fault codes showing up either on the dash or Faultmate.
Thought somebody might have come up with something similar on here, also, no official BBS support till Monday.
Keep em rolling in guys!! Club N.E.R.D.s
