Car turns over but will not start

Hello,

My 2004 Disco 3 has an intermittent issue. Very occasionally it just will not start. This is normally when the engine is hot, locked and left for say half an hour.

Usually after a period of say 2 hours it starts again. Frustrating as I never know when it’s going to happen. Could this be a heat sensor? Any pointers will be very much appreciated as I just want to get it fixed.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.....

Check for fuel pressure from the in tank pump first. When you turn the ignition on you should hear a faint whirr.

I had a Fiat do this years ago … diaphragm in fuel pump had gone slightly porous. Once the engine was at temp, fuel was warmer and expanded so there was more back pressure and the pump wouldn't push fuel.

Mine in hindsight started the same way would spin like anything but not fire only now and again, ended up being a rather expensive fuel pump following a breakdown and recovery
Listen for the pump spinning when you put the ignition on or open the Schroeder valve ( think that's what it's called ) at the back of the engine same thing ignition on depress valve you should get a squirt of fuel that should start you off , maybe a blocked fuel filter or water
Thumbs Up

Many thanks for your suggestions chaps, I’ll get on to checking these things out. I’m guessing that a LR computer is unlikely to diagnose the fuel pump if it’s that?
