So we went on our first caravan trip the other day. It could be me, but I am sure this was not the normal camping experience.
We turn up at the campsite and book in at the gate, only to be asked how big our tent is. I pointed out we had a caravan, which was attached to car we were in. They looked at the form again and despite my e-mail booking being a caravan, had us down as a tent and was I sure we wanted a caravan spot. They told us not to worry and that we could try any of the spaces she gave us to see if any were big enough for our caravan  .
Finally managed to get the caravan into the space, but it was on a hell of a slope. The back of the caravan was almost touching the ground and the front was about 4' in the air in order to make it level. Of course the support jacks wouldn't fit as they are not that long. When I asked what we should do, they told us to find anything on the site to "prop" it up, so SWMBO managed to "borrow" some logs from the fire wood pile of the site owners cottage. Next came the awning, having not put it up before it didn't occur to me that it would not fit on a slope. One end was up in the air and the other end I couldn't fit the poles in as they were too long. Our plan to keep the dogs in the awning therefore did not work.
The upshot was that we ended up with both dogs in the van wanting to sleep on the bed and us wondering when the handbrake would fail and we would end up in the next county.
Why would anybody want to set up a camping site on a hill  . It must be worse in a tent as you can't even level it out.

the joys of caravanning.....at least in a tent you know why the sleeping bags end up at the foot of the tent.
Remember our first trip to the Black Forest...similar sort of pitch.....soon found out why caravanners carried short lengths of 6 x 2
And you need to train the dogs to sleep under the bed. Club RLD spare wheel protection

Been there and done that mate, using chocks under your steadies is not unheard of really, but your situation sounded a little extreme!
If you are talking about the Caravan and Camping Club site in Salisbury then you will find that is also sloping unless you get right at the bottom of the site. There is not very much room at times either due to the pitches being haphazard in their layout and without actual perimeters around them.
This time of year should hopefully see you get you get a choice of pitches due to not being as busy though.
Keep at it its nots always that hilarious

Can't believe you posted that on here after the grief I gave you about buying a tintent!
Sounds like you had an interesting time!
From the campsites that I've stayed at that have Caravan sites, most have been pretty flat, so I think you were just a bit unlucky. D3 HSE MY05 Auto

Don't even joke about it  .
To make it even worse, I had to be up at 6:30am while we were there as I was taking part in a classic car rally with my brother. As it was dark and not wishing to wake up the family I switched on what I thought was the water boiler as I could just make out the word heat on the label in the dark. When I got in the shower it was freezing, but the caravan was roasting and it turns out there are two labelled heat, one it Ultraheat and the other is Ultrastore and they are both right next to each other. Clearly the Ultrastore is the water heater and Ultraheat is the central heating  .

Done somthing like that too , got up rather early one morning and made myself a cup of gravy complte with two sugers Practice safe eating - always use condiments.

brilliant, if you're coming down this way then can recommend monkey tree, it's a flat site, (unusual for round here i think) and family friendly..
it's only 100 metres from our house and there's a pit under the MGA if you need it.. one wife.......livid
