Cargo Barrier

Well just fitted this & it really is a poor bit of kit for £160!!
Took about half an hour to install all the fittings & put the grill in, but you have to remove 2 of the tie downs from the boot, putting them back with a plate to hold on to the rack! But the hole in the plate needs to be bigger to allow the tie down fixing throw for a better fit, it now stands proud of the floor!
You also need to remove a cover from behind the back seats & take out the screw that holds the trim in place! Then fit new bracket to hold the barrier, fist one no problem, second one the screw just keeps on turning, will not come out!
But fitted it anyway & it sits so far away from the back head rest that you loose a lot of space in the boot, which is just what I wanted it for so when we go away we can pack it up to the roof with out having to worry about it coming for wood over the back seat!
All in all it will do the job, but what a after thought bog job it is!!

Sounds like the dog guard I have in my current Freelander. You have to remove the tie downs to fit that as well. Problem is that the factory actually fit these way too tight - it's a know fault and even dealers can't always fit them...

That's why I didn't order it for my D3

Hi Nick, good info, do any of the bits you remove to fit the barrier stay off when it is fitted? I ask this because as part of my d3 purchase the cargo barrier is coming fitted so do I need to make sure I get a 'bag of bits' when it arrives?

cheers,

Malc

My local LR parts shop printed me an accessory price list for the Discovery 3 back in May. It shows a complete breakdown of costs and the number of hours for fitting. Ill scan the list in and display it in my gallery when I get round to it.

LR have said that the cargo barrier should take .75 of an hour to fit, at my dealership that would be just under £75.

Yes you should get 2 blanking plugs & 2 screws!

Dealer reckoned on 1.5 hours to fit (100 per hour) took less than half an hour!
Think they where trying to put us off having them fit it!
