Can you a picture of labels of canister?

Halfrauds is pretty far from me Whistle simply surfed castrol’s site until I found the A5 magnatec.

I own a D3 and a D4.
My D3 2,7 l 2005 always run on Castrol Magnatec 5w 30 A5 for 205000 km and when i had to overhaul it due to compression issues i also checked the crank and big end bearings and there was no sign of wear whatsoever and like new.
My D4 3,0 2012 had C1 low saps engine oil specified and at 210000 km it spun a rod bearing and the crankshaft and big end bearings bearings was replaced. All bearings showed bad sign of wear and had worn its way thrue the white metal so the copper layer underneath was exposed.
Aperantly there is an important additive lubrication wise that is removed from the oil in the low saps to avoid blockage of the particle filter but this on the other hand will wear out your bearings.
Maybe there should be a service bulletin to replace crank and big end bearings on engines that has particle filter and requires C1 specified oil maybe at around 150000 km just a thought since noumerous of D4 spins the bearings and destroyes the crankshaft.

I’ve been using this on my last two changes

Rocks a British company and well regarded in the motorcycle world. It’s from Home Bargains we were there yesterday and it’s £17.50 for 4.5L and about £4 for 1L.

Here you are. As my D4 doesn’t have a DPF this is the oil I use.

Yes thats the one i use also the same oil speck as Kelvo on both my D3 and D4 since i rather have my particle filter blocked than to replace the engine because of the additive composition in the low saps C1 oil.

sadly it's unlikely the C1 oil is part of the issue. cranks have been known to fail at very low miles, well before an engine should show signs of wear.

Hardwear are probably right that cranks brake at low milage but this dosent change the fackt that my bearings in one engine was like unused and in the other engine the bearings was completely worn out and spun a conrod bearing at aprox the same km and all based on witch oil that was used.
Made some research and found that on a low saps oil some important additive is removed to avoid blockage in the particle filter and that can give problems with said bearings.

See, see is what I was talking about - "meets" does not equal to APPROVAL. I would buy only OEM approved oil.
