Casualty of Hogmoor
Following the excellent day out at hogmoor, i thought i better check the compressor for any left overs .
Easy job , one 10mm nut and two torx screws ...couple of clips ...open up to find this
Prodded all this out with a screw driver ..then left the cover off and went for a drive to shake off all the left overs
Total sum of crud
Nice and quite againG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Wiggs, it could be worse!
I did the same as DiscoDunc and put a couple of holes in mine so I can stick a hose in to gently wash it out. I also removed the foam so it doesn't clogg up so easily. I doubt that mine has much crud in it following Hogmoor
Hopefully replacing the CV joint tomorrow.D3 HSE MY05 Auto

Here's mine
I wondered why it was so noisy. Still seems to be pretty loud but can't remember what it was like before.
I really need to do mine...haven't cleaned it out for a few months I think it will be full, especially after Hogmoor and this weekend.
@RichardM - check your radiator and intercooler to see if that needs cleaning out. YOu will be able to see if there is mud/sand etc blocking the vanes. There is a "how to" guide with pictures in one of MrH's threads. Its very good. Also check the sills, cross-members, rear bumper and the hundred and one other places under the car that will have accumulated mud and sand....The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

After seeing this, I've finally got the car on the ramps and had a good look underneath.
Well, apart from being pretty obvious the previous owner has been off road a fair amount (Which is fine!) I thought I would take off the compressor cover and found it in a similar shape as the previous posters. Looked the same colour mud too!
So, I've knocked all the mud out and refitted the cover
No doubt I'll have to do it again in a month or so, as I booked a days offroading with the LRE Snowdonia lot. Birthday prezzy off my parents Mark.

It isn't that bad in the summer but when freezing the compressor gets very noisy.
That's how I found out. Roel
