It's supposed to be sealed for life , but there have been a lot of cases where it needs to be done from anywhere around 60 000 km as the transmission starts to shudder .

I had mine done at 70 000 or thereabouts

The D2 autobox is also 'sealed for life' - yeah, right!

On the older car, the box tends to fail at about 90k miles if the oils isn't changed, so it's advisable to change it about every 48k (the factory recommendation for the same make of box in the D1, Classic RR and P38).

In conclusion, I'd suggest changing it approx every 48k ...

Mick

I'm think, a long period for change fluid may be problems in automatic transmisions because autoboxe need in change fluid sometime, sorry for my english!

If you speak to Ashcrofts about changing the oil they recommend that if you don't know the history of a HIGH mileage box then leave well alone. If you change the oil then it just dislodges all sorts of crud and blocks up the internals. You could avoid this by changing at an earlier than specified time frame.

I think from 50000 to 60000 mile is a norma for change oil in diff&trans. Realy period for normal working of trans. In russia people don't change oil in trans. But russians change cars every 3-4 years!!!!
