Charging

Red charging light staying on hidden menu shows only 11 v belt ok fuse ok anything else to check before new altenator
 Disco 3, 50th V8 90, 127.

Yeah, consider disconnecting the battery as a failing alternator has been known to dead short and kill a perfectly healthy battery.
Make sure you fit a Denso alternator too, cheaper versions don't last and simply aren't man enough.

I had the same symptom on mine. 11volts and no rise when engine revved. It also had a strong burning type smell from the alternator area, similar to a brakes stuck on type smell. Alternator was also really hot. Disconnected battery straight away as I thought it was going into Chernobyl melt down mode. New Denso alternator and belt from AF put things right. Also renewed the battery after 10 years service just to make sure. The only really hard part at the DIY side was getting the cooling fan hub off. Ended up buying the fan hub tool as well. Bite the bullet and go for Denso. Took about 4hrs work. Good luck
