Check your pouches !

No, not referring to those personal self checks gentlemen should be doing, but the signal blocking pouches those with keyless entry might be using to store their keys indoors.
I had the embarrassing situation today when I was demonstrating to my brother in law, how my ‘Defender’ pouch stopped keyless signals standing next to his car with his keys in it. Imagine my shock when his car opened as he touched the handle. Went and got the pouch I keep my spare key in to try it and that was fine. Blocked the signal no problem. So it seems that the pouch I use everyday has worn in some way as the keys go in and out causing it to no longer block the signal.
So I would advise anyone using these pouches to check them regularly to make sure they are still giving you the protection you think you have. I’ve just ordered a new one, can’t remember exactly how long I’ve had the current ones, between 1 and 2 years probably.
Cheers
 Gary

Yes, mine is the same and I'd just explained that you have to make sure the keys are in the back pocket and then his car opened. Obviously worn so replacing.
Apparently they do wear out, I was reading, so check it every now and then.

Good Spot !!

It is a very fine mesh so can see how constantly sliding the keys in and out could wear a small (signal transparent) hole Thumbs Up

My pouch also stopped working. I only found out by accident.

I have a small metal box to put my keys in which works great.

Yes , I tried a metal box before buying the pouches as had read it worked. I tried it but my car still unlocked. I think it has to have (and continue to have) a perfect 'in contact' all around seal between box and lid. Opening and closing regularly may compromise that.

You're probably right Gary. Even if I place the metal box in the same hand as opening the door, my door will not unlock. I'm going to check every few months to make sure it's still doing its job, just in case.
