Click - foot brake

I noticed today that i get a click when I release the foot brake.

It's not the solonoid which you can (also) hear when in P or N gear. It seems to be coming from something inside the rubber gaiter that covers (what i assume is) the brake acutuating rod at the back of the brake pedal.

You can feel a dished washer inside the gaiter and guess it could be moving against the rod

Has anyone else experienced this?

Is it possible to get into the gaiter (easily) and would adding some grease be possible / sensible?

Any ideas / suggestions would help.

Bump Whistle

It's now driving me mad:x

I'm now seriously considering drilling a small hole in the gaiter and spraying some grease inside to see if it helps. I guess I could then seal the hole with a screw.

What do people think? Is this sensible?

Does everyones brake pedal click?

As we can't picture the problem, I don't think that we should comment on a solution.

I hope you get it sorted.

I can't think of any sensible reason to add in a fairly random manner, lubricant to a system that relies on friction to make you stop. I can appreciate that it might be annoying, but i guarantee it is not an much of a PITA as hitting something/running off the road at 70mph because the brakes have failed due to being lubricated incorrectly Confused
