Climate Problem?

Hi All,

I'm looking for a bit of advice/help. It may be our car has a fault or more likely operator error!

Occasionally when switching off our D4 the Climate Control Auto Light stays on and something is whirring under the bonnet, it continues after locking. I've only noticed it recently with the current weather.

We do have a webasto heater and I suspect that is the cause of the whirr! If I check the timed heating settings and manual settings they are all switched to off so I can't turn it off. If I push the off button on the heater remote it doesn't stop it.

The only thing that turns it off is turning the car back on and then back off again!?

Is it a fault or is the car detecting low temperatures and staying on a bit on purpose? Have I missed a setting?

Sound like the FBH. The FBH will run it's fan through a cycle after you leave the car, to cool down the internals. It's perfectly normal! Thumbs Up

Thanks for the quick reply. I think you might be right.

So does the FBH work in the cold then to help heat the car up a bit? I assumed it only worked under manual operation.

If it was cooling down the internals would you expect the light to remain lit on the auto button on the climate control section?

Seems strange to lock a car in the dark but this auto button is still lit up?

I can't help with the light, might be a D4 thing.

The FBH will fire up to assist engine warm up in cold weather (6° or below IIRC) and also to help with cabin warming, if you demand more heat than the engine can provide.
