Completely dead and hazards flashing |
|
Really getting to the end of my tether with our D3 now...
After getting the System Shutting down issue yesterday, today I've gone out to it and as soon as I turn the ignition the door locks cycle and the dash lights up like a Xmas tree. The car won't start at all, just a click.
Tried reading faults but there are loads and the Nanocom seems to be having issues communicating with the car. Most are U faults but there was one pointing to the immobiliser.
Now the hazard lights are flashing permanently, the only way to stop them is to disconnect the battery (which I've done.) Trying a hard reset hasn't helped.
The battery is at 12v and yesterday the alternator was kicking out a solid 14v when running.
Help - any ideas?! Cheers,
Gareth

If I can get the bl00dy thing to start, I'll try that! Waiting for SWMBO to come back with my car to put the jump leads on the Disco and see if that helps. Cheers,
Gareth

Hazard lights on and non start point towards CAN BUS wiring fault, they are the pair of twisted yellow wires.
Common areas are connectors behind n/s rear wheel on top of chassis, and at the EPB module connectors.
Also have heard of problems with the plug to the instrument pack but I think that's quite rare. Stu

12v is not enough at the battery. First thing to do is put a charged battery on it or recharge yours.

Thanks. Given I've had the system shutting down issue too, I'm thinking it may be the instrument pack, as that seems to be the source of that issue. Cheers,
Gareth

I've taken the instrument cluster out, meddled with it (technical term for wiggling the wiring loom and cleaning the plug) and put it back. Drove 10miles with no issues... Hoping I am at least narrowing down on the issue, as reading other's experiences it sounds similar.
Flack coming for a visit later in the week and hopefully we'll fix this latest issue once and for all, and I can get back to fixing the more important stuff, like replacing the driver's seat heating element before summer. Cheers,
Gareth

Mine had similar troubles.
New instrument cluster fixed it, although you will need to sync the CCF file, and transfer the mileage count to the new unit. I did it myself with an IID tool and plenty of help from GAP.
Of course, not being a blue tooth version, my IID relies on the instrument cluster display. When this is the part that is being changed, you need to use it in pc mode.
All adds to the fun.
Cluster was £510+vat from a main dealer. New gearbox & TC, 3 x front wheel bearings, belts changed, new oil pump, new battery, new rear prop, new front prop, new front diff, front arb refurbed, front cv boot kit, egr blank and BAS software patch, full rear suspension / drivelive rebuild, new front arms, LED trailer light fix, split charge.
Never had a 107, 90 or 127, but have had most of the rest!

Thanks.
Flack has a spare IPACK, although I think it is the wrong version, it is worth a try.
Looking into new IPACKs from dealers and the correct one for my car (vin 8A) is the best part of £900. Some sites show it as no longer available, some show it as being superseded but all end up costing a lot more than the earlier versions. Cheers,
Gareth

The £900 figure includes a £150 + vat deposit on the old unit.
I bought part no LR014549 at £562.60 plus vat from a main dealer.
10% discount brought that to £506.34 plus vat., £607.61 New gearbox & TC, 3 x front wheel bearings, belts changed, new oil pump, new battery, new rear prop, new front prop, new front diff, front arb refurbed, front cv boot kit, egr blank and BAS software patch, full rear suspension / drivelive rebuild, new front arms, LED trailer light fix, split charge.

Not sure if it matters, if it has the small screen in the middle, then it should work that means its a high line screen, Just remember we install later software to early ipacks to get COD. so fingers crossed..
