Compressor air leak - repair on the road
Hi,
I recently got air compressor (Hitachi) serviced (air dryer, ..) and they apparently screwed something up.
After few hundred km I got suspension fault with pressure buildup too slow error.
I checked and there's significant air leak from orange tube on the air dryer (front side of the compressor) and possibly very small on blue one. Can this be somehow repaired why "on the road", without taking compressor out, ...?

It is possible the air tube pipe is not fully inserted in the cap? If it is you need to change the end cap, it can be done in place, if it's not already been changed?
There will be a small crack between the blue and orange connections,

I can't confirm the crack, at least as far as I can see there without unscrewing it.
It looks more like leaking around the tube.
(but you could still be right, of course, not easy to look there closely)
These tubes, how can they be (un)plugged?
Pulling/pushing or some tools are needed?

first support the car with axel stands.
you don't want the car to lower when that pipe is pulled.
you then push the orange ring inwards and this releases the grip on the pipe, allowing you to push it in more or remove

If you squirt the area with soapy water it will look like the pipe is leaking but my money will be on the end plate cracked...........unless it has been changed. New modified end plates are metal.

I remembered that I have gas leaking spray and I used it. You're probably right, I'll need a new cover.
I'm bit off that if was not done (and not suggested) when air drier and seals were changed as it would be few EURs more and the same work. And all this trouble saved.
Questions:
I still have some 500km to drive. After few km of driving I get suspension fault error, slow pressure buildup error (I have diagnostics tool) and compressor switches off. Is it still OK to keep driving the car afterwards?
What exactly is gallery pressure? Pressure where - in the air reservoir or just in compressor?
It goes down quite rapidly after compressor switches off.
When I check live data, when compressor kicks in, gallery pressure raises quickly to some 1xxx kPa, then goes very slowly to ca 15xx kPa and then turns off with the error (and temperature ca 120 dg C) and gallery pressure drops quickly eventually down to 1xx kPa.
Pete K:
Works like that on blue pipe but not on the orange one. Possibly broken.
Car does not go down.
I had to improvise and instead of axle stands I used caravaning leveling ramps. Should the car go down, there'd still be space (I'd just need new underwear).

As long as the car isn’t on the bump stops it’s ok to drive (sensibly)
Gallery pressure is tank pressure I guess, used to raise the
Suspension should it be required. (Or if you have a leak somewhere.).
Try some gum round the pipe and between the pipes.
Let it go off over night.

If its coming from around the pipes then they are not inserted far enough - should be up to the bulge.
Just remove the cap and use some quick drying epoxy glue on the inside between the two pipes.

You can buy a service kit for this, which comprises of a new cap and rings as well as all the drying pellets really satisfying job to do and see the suspension work, I’m sure there’s a guide on here somewhere as I done it to my old rrs.
previous LR D3 HSE, RRS HST, RR Evoque Dynamic Lux.
Current D5 HSE Lux

Hi,
I got further issue with suspension system.
I got suspension fault error (C1131) once. It did not repeat since (but I was driving very little).
I checked live data today at home:
- Started the engine
- Lowered & raised the car (worked fine)
- Compressor kicked in, gallery pressure went up to above 1700kPa, compressor turned off. No error.
- With the engine still running, gallery pressure started to (very) slowly decrease. Few minutes to ca 1400kPa.
Is that gallery pressure decrease normal or does it indicate small leak somewhere?

Update: There appears to be a leak where one of the pipes is connected.
(the cover itself does not appear to be cracked on "usual" spot).
What types of connectors are these?
Can they be repaired at home?

Remove and replace with some new ptfe tape... Looks like the pressure is passing through the threads?
